Joaquín Blanco awarded Finn Gold Cup 40 years late

The 1977 Finn Gold Cup never happened. The winner of the renamed Finn World Week was never officially acknowledged as World Champion. Now, 40 years later, Spaniard, Joaquín Blanco has been acknowledged by the class and his peers as the 1977 Finn World Champion and has had his name engraved on the Finn Gold Cup, denied to him four decades ago by the unwelcome intrusion of global politics. Now, four decades later, on Saturday, 23 June, 2017, the Finn Class has rewritten history.



Tribute to Manel Albalat and Miquel Company

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Finn Gold Cup, held in Palamós in 1977, Palamós City council has made a tribute to two person that dedicated their life to the sport of sailing in Palamós: Manel Albalat Casadó and Miquel Company Martorell.

Ona García participates at the Meeting Riva del Garda and Marçal Costa at the Copa de España Optimist class

Ona García was second in girls category at the Meeting Riva del Garda held in Italy and Marçal Costa, member of the Catalan Optimist team, finished 46th overall at the Copa de España held at CN Altea.


Jordi Booth and Lucy Brugman 24th in Nacra 17 at the Trofeo Princesa Sofía IBEROSTAR

The team formed by Jordi Booth (CN Costa Brava-Vela Palamós) and Lucy Brugman (CN El Balís) finished 24th overall in the Nacra 17 class, in the 48th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía IBEROSTAR, held from 24 March to 1 April in waters of the bay of Palma.
