Port Special Plan Agreement

27 September 2016

The Catalan Government and the Palamós City Council have signed the agreement to go ahead with the Port Special Plan. The document is intended to regulate the use of the port zone (keeping the fishing, nautical and commercial traditions).

The scope of the special plan start with the Platja Gran parking and extends to the Pedrera. Among others, the document will propose the relocation of the fishing sector and also promote the activities linked to cruisers. One of the objectives would be the remodelling of the dock to enable the mooring of more than one cruiser at the same time.

Palamós has demanded a Port Special Plan for over ten years. The Secretary for Infrastructures and Ports de la Generalitat, Ricard Font, and Mayor Lluís Puig signed on 28th July the agreement to go ahead with the writing of the document.

The document will detail the different uses offered by the port and their location. The Plan will keep the fishing, commercial and nautical tradition besides the cultural, tourism and leisure uses offered by the port area.

Work will be done close together and this is why the Government and City Council will create a joint office. The will is that the Special Plan becomes a reality in a year’s time.
