The Club celebrates the 2017 Members evening

As every summer, Club Nàutic Costa Brava / Vela Palamós celebrated the Club members evening on 3 August. This event wishes to pay tribute to the results of our sailors as well as providing an entertaining get together of our members.

Mr Tomàs Gallard, president of the Sports Clubs Association of Catalonia joined the evening as in previous years.

Mr. Eduard Sallés, the Club’s president opened the act introducing Jordi Llinàs, one of the crew members on board that CN Costa Brava / Vela Palamós sailboat that crossed the Atlantic in the ARC regatta, together with the boat owner Manel Xifra and the other members of the crew Jordi Bosch and Pepe Serra.

The outstanding results of the Club’s sailors in the 2016-2017 season were also acknowledged.

Mr. Sallés took the opportunity to announce that engineer Mr. Xavier Frigola Mercader will be in charge of drafting the Special Plan for the Port of Palamós which has to be developed including the new Club concession.

The participation of CN Costa Brava / Vela Palamós in the Manhattan Yacht Club Challenge International regatta was also outlined. It will be the first Catalan and second Spanish Club to have been invited to participate in the regatta. Our sailors, the Costa brothers and Joan Herp are the team chosen to represent us.

The President expressed a special gratitude to Club members René Matas, Paco Cabanas, Xavier Mallorquí, Joan Roches, Álvaro Angulo, Xavier Planas and Joan Costa, for their disinterested collaboration that will make this challenge possible.

Mr. Sallés congratulated the Vimar Foundation and its President, Mr. Claudi Mató and Vice-president Jordi Sistach for their task and expressed the Club’s satisfaction for being able to collaborate once again with the Foundation, both with the sailing activities as well as with the solidary contribution of the dinner.

In this respect, he highlighted the recent signature of the Agreement with the Obra Social (Social Project) from La Caixa that will contribute to improve the disabled sailing activity developed by our Club with renewed Access points and new sports equipment with a special thanks to La Caixa and Club member, Ricardo Sanchis, for their support to the project.

To close the act, he thanked Mr. Carlos Homedes for his collaboration with the dinner, during which White wine and gins were served, courtesy of Mombasa.
